Applicants seeking admissions in Fall 2010 should submit their application, transcripts and letters of reference (and other uploaded materials) to the Graduate School by November 20, 2009 and ensure that all other application materials are received by the department before the December 1, 2009 deadline

Application Checklist:
__ Test Scores: Plan to take the GRE in October or before that date in order to have scores received by the department by the December 1 deadline. GRE scores should be sent directly from the testing center to the department. The department requires GRE scores in verbal, quantitative and analytical writing. In addition, the subject test is strongly recommended.
Codes are as follows:

  • The University of Missouri code is 6875.
  • Clinical Psychology is 2001.
  • Cognitive Psychology is 2002.
  • Developmental Psychology is 2006.
  • Personality Psychology is 2009.
  • Psychology (undecided) is 2016.
  • Quantitative Psychology is 2014.
  • Social Psychology is 2015.

__ Transcripts:
Please submit copies of each post-high school transcript that documents a degree either earned or expected. Post-high school transcripts for coursework not leading to a degree are not required. Transcripts should be sent directly from the registrar of that school: one copy should be sent to the Graduate School and one copy should be sent to the department, using the postal addresses listed above.

Prepare the following electronic files for uploading to the Graduate School application:
__ Department Application: Download the Department Application attached at the bottom of this page.
__ Personal Statement: A personal statement includes a description of your career objectives and your specific interests in psychology. You should indicate past research activities, and the areas of research activity in which you are particularly interested, as well as indicating what faculty research interests are parallel to your own.
__ Sample of Work. Optional: select a sample of work fifteen pages long or less for uploading to the online system. Samples of work longer than fifteen pages should be mailed to the department at the address above. Sample work cannot be returned.

In November or before, upload the department application, personal statement, and sample of work to the Graduate School application:
__ Graduate School Application: Apply using the online application system.
__ Letters of Recommendation: Request recommendations from three references through the Online Application System. Attached forms below should only be used if your recommender cannot access the online system.

  • 1. Go to the "Recommendations" tab on the Online Application Form,
  • 2. Enter the recommender’s personal information with correct email address on the registration page
  • 3. Read and mark one of the waiver statements on each Letter of Reference.
    Your recommender will receive an automated email with instructions to log in to complete the online recommendation. After your recommender submits the recommendation, both you and your recommender will receive an email confirmation.
  • If your references are unable to use the online recommendation system, you may use the recommendation form attached to the bottom of this page. These should be sent to the Department address above.

__ Submit the Graduate School Application: By November 20, the online system should have all your documents, including your three letters of recommendation. You are now ready to submit the application. The graduate school requires an application fee, currently $45 for domestic students and $60 for international ones. The department does not charge a fee for applications.
