Diversity in Graduate Study

Encouraging a campus culture that is diverse and representative of the world in which we live not only reflects but is central to the University of Missouri's long-standing commitment to the free and open exchange of ideas.

The Graduate School offers two opportunities that may be of benefit to prospective graduate students from underrepresented groups (African-American, American Indian, Alaskan Native, Hispanic/Latino, or Native Pacific Islander):

Emerge Fall Preview Weekend

This weekend program that takes place in the end of October. The visit to campus will help the prospective student learn about the opportunities for research and academic growth, meet current graduate students, and provide them with more information about the admissions process and funding sources. All costs associated with official events of the weekend (travel, lodging, meals, all scheduled activities) are paid by the Graduate School.

Emerge Summer Research Internship

The Emerge Summer Research Internship Program offers six weeks of research experience under the direction of faculty mentors, course credit, GRE prep classes, workshops on graduate school admissions procedure, and a stipend (including travel and housing). This program is also administered by the MU Graduate School.
