Dave Geary, Curators' Professor in Developmental, is a White House appointee to the President's National Mathematics Panel. The panel was created by President Bush and will advise the President and the Secretary of Education on the best use of scientifically based research to advance the teaching and learning of mathematics, especially as related to algebra and preparation for algebra.

Laura King, was appointed by the executive committee of Association for Research in Personality, as the editor of the Journal of Research in Personality, the flagship journal of the association. JRP is a highly competitive journal that publishes groundbreaking work in the field of individual differences. Among the new associate editors on Laura's team is none other than Ken Sheldon, another accomplished personality psychologist here at MU. Laura takes over the journal from its previous editor, Lynne Cooper, also a professor in our department. The journal has a long relationship with our department, with Professor Emeritus Russ Geen also serving previously as its editor. The consistent recognition of scholars in the department whose work focuses on personality demonstrates a unique strength of the Social and Personality Training Area.
