Congratulations to Cassie Boness: Graduate School Distinguished Dissertation Award
Congratulations to Cassie Boness who earned the Graduate School's Distinguished Dissertation Award. Her dissertation focused primarily on refining the conceptualization of alcohol use disorder (AUD). She conducted a systematic review of reviews to describe and integrate the literature on translational AUD mechanisms. The overall goal of this review was to address the shortcomings of existing diagnostic systems and mechanism-based frameworks of AUD
Cassie’s dissertation research was supported by a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism that she earned with her mentor, Dr. Ken Sher. She has published over 22 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research at national and international scientific meetings. Cassie has also earned our department’s Graduate Student Excellence Award and Thelen Outstanding Clinical Graduate Student Award.
