My interests are in personal goal striving, specifically, in the what and why of motivated goal pursuit. My research looks into both the contents (the "what") of goals, as well as the quality of motivation that energizes individuals' goals (the "why") and relates these to goal attainment and well-being. I also study how aspects of narrative identity impact one's goal pursuit and well-being.
I love teaching a variety of courses including General Psychology, Social Psychology, and Research Methods. My teaching methods incorporate evidence-based practices in higher education and I take a student-centered approach that incorporates my own area of research into enhancing student engagement and intrinsic motivation to learn.
